Op de Poolse Ambassade vond op 12 december 2014 de presentatie plaats van het boek En nog is Polen niet verloren, geschreven door Stéphane Alonso en Thijs Papôt, uitgegeven bij uitgeverij Douane.

Alonso en Papôt hebben als correspondenten van een Nederlandse krant en van een radiozender jarenlang in Polen gewoond. Zowel in Polen als in Nederland bemerkten zij dat de Polen zich niet herkennen in het beeld dat in Nederland bekend is over hun land.
In dit boek vertellen de schrijvers de ontwikkeling van Polen in de afgelopen tien jaar.
De titel van het boek verwijst naar de eerste zin van het Poolse volkslied:

‘En nog is Polen niet verloren, zolang wij leven’.
Deze zin drukt zowel pessimisme als hoop uit.

Het volkslied werd geschreven aan het einde van de achttiende eeuw toen Polen door de omringende grootmachten werd opgedeeld en eigenlijk van de landkaart verdween.
Van het land Polen bleef alleen het grondgebied van Warschau over.
Vanuit de Stadsstaat Warschau is Polen uitgegroeid tot een natie die op dit moment een centrale positie in Europa heeft ingenomen. Donald Tusk, de voormalige president van Polen is onlangs benoemd tot de permanente voorzitter van de Europese Raad.

En nog is Polen niet verloren is een boeiend boek dat een inkijkje geeft in het leven in Polen in 2014. Het is een aanrader voor iedereen die ‘onze buren op één-dag-reis afstand’ wil leren kennen en begrijpen.

Maar…. wie zijn de Dutchies?

De Dutchies zijn Judith Anvelink, Manouk de Pree, Geordie Bregman en Teun van der Maas, vier jongeren uit Leidschendam, Voorburg, Stompwijk en Leidschenveen die samen met Vigilia van Akkeren op verzoek van de werkgroep stedenband Leidschendam-Voorburg * Konstancin-Jeziorna die in het weekend van 21 juni in de Poolse partnerstad van Leidschendam-Voorburg hebben deelgenomen aan het 5^e Internationaal Jongeren Muziek Festival. Deze jongeren spelen o.l.v. Vigila van Akkeren regelmatig in kerkdiensten in onze gemeente. Van de deelnemers wordt verwacht dat zij een optreden verzorgen met o.a. muziek van een componist uit eigen land. De uitvoering van de o.lv. Vigila van Akkeren ingestudeerde werken heeft in Polen geleid tot een daverend applaus en heel veel complimenten

De Dutchies

Konstancin-Jeziorna met partnersteden in zes verschillende landen organiseert elke twee jaar een internationaal muziekfestival voor jongeren uit hun partnersteden. Dit jaar waren er jongeren uit Polen, Nederland (Leidschendam-Voorburg), Duitsland, Tsjechië (Hranice), Letland en Litouwen. De jongeren uit Oekraïne konden dit jaar niet naar Polen komen wegens de situatie in hun land. Gezamenlijk vormen alle jongeren een orkest en studeren zij nieuwe stukken in die zij aan het eind van het weekend uitvoeren. Dit internationale jongeren orkest bestond uit meer dan 70 jongeren in de leeftijd van 10 tot 19 jaar die op de dag van aankomst elkaar niet kenden en nog nooit samen hadden gespeeld. In het weekend hebben zij meer dan 15 uur geoefend. De jongeren werden steeds enthousiaster. Het daverende applaus en de roep om herhalingen van gespeelde stukken aan het einde van het concert maakte duidelijk dat de dirigent maar vooral ook de jonge musici een geweldige prestatie hebben geleverd. Opnieuw werd duidelijk dat muziek ‘een internationale taal’ is die mensen verbindt.

De Dutchies

Behalve de musici voor het orkest is er in het weekend ook veel gestudeerd door 40 kinderen die samen een internationaal jeugdkoor hebben gevormd. Dit koor heeft voorafgaande aan het concert een uitvoering gegeven van de door hen ingestudeerde liederen.

Het comité van aanbeveling van dit muzikale weekend bestond o.a. uit Bogdan Zdrojewski, de Poolse minister van Cultuur en Nationaal erfgoed en Kazimierz Jańczuk, burgemeester van Konstancin-Jeziorna. Konstancin-Jeziorna is een stad met ± 30.000 inwoners met o.a. een bloeiende muziekschool die sinds 2014 is ondergebracht in een schitterend gerestaureerd pand aan de oever van de rivier Jeziorka.

In Konstancin-Jeziorna is van 19 tot 23 juni het vijfde Youth Chamber Music Festival.

Hi, my name is Judith Anvelink and I am 16 years old. I live in the Netherlands and I play the flute which I have been playing for around 7 years.

I am Manouk de Pree, I’m fifteen years old and I’m in the fourth grade.
My hobbies are reading, dancing and, of course, making music.
At my school I play alto saxophone in the orchestra every week, and with that orchestra we have performed two musicals. I also sing in a gospel choir, which I like a lot. I look forward to making music in Konstancin-Jeziorna!

Hello! My name is Teun van der Maas, I’m 17 years old, from the Netherlands and I play alto saxophone. I’ve been playing for about seven, maybe eight years but due to lack of time have I been forced to stop playing, but for events like this will I gladly make an exception. I’m looking forward to be going to Poland this year, I’ve never been there in my life and to meet up with so many youngsters from so many countries is of course amazing.

My name is Geordie Bregman and of the ones speaking here, am I the oldest (19 years). Almost as long as I remember I play music, once starting on a wooden flute and eventually learning to be a flugelhorn playing member of a local fanfare which I am now.

Together we are the Dutchies. We met each other in our church in Leidschendam. Some of us know each other from when they were young. In March of this year we played together in a church service for the youth. The president of de group twinning Leidschendam-Voorburg * Konstancin-Jeziorna heard our play and asked us if we would like to come to this festival in Poland. And of course we wanted!!

Our ensemble will be conducted by the cantor of our church, Vigilia van Akkeren. As a singer and choir conductor she is used to work with singers but she likes it very much to work with us and to guide us in this festival.

7 en 8 mei – Fleece festival = vlotten festival

Het festival vindt plaats op de rivier Vistula, regio Łużyc. Deze regio is verbonden met Nederlandse immigranten en de Nederlandse cultuur.

Activiteiten in Leidschendam-Voorburg 2014

Deelname aan het muziekfestival in Konstancin-Jeziorna (KJ)

In de Stadstuin Rusthout wil men voor de kinderen een wateractiviteit aanleggen.
De bijdrage van het KICI fonds € 2000,- kunnen wij aan dit project besteden.
Men wil een waterpomp plaatsen met daarop een bordje met verwijzing naar de        Stedenband. Harry regelt dit verder met de beheerder van de Stadstuin.

Deelname aan de cultuurmarkt in Voorburg met een informatie kraam

Deelname aan de markt in Leidschendam t.g.v. Open monumentendag en de              Vlietdagen. Thema Open monumenten dag is ‘Reizen’.
Afspraak: Harry zal een elektrospel maken waarmee Poolse en Nederlandse woorden        die op elkaar lijken met elkaar verbonden moeten worden. Johan zal enkele              woordparen aanleveren.

Groep 8 van de Maria Bernadetteschool in Leidschendam werkt samen met Jana             Twardowskiego basisschool in Konstancin voor deze zomervakantie aan het project         ‘Wij leren elkaar kennen’. Daarin vullen een Nederlands-Pools koppel leerlingen samen      een pagina in, met per pagina informatie over zichzelf, hun familie,huis, school, sport,    stad etc. De pagina’s worden digitaal verstuurd .
Ook zal aandacht worden besteed aan het staatsbezoek van
Koning Willem-Alexander en Koningin Maxima aan Polen eind juni 2014.
Met dit koppel basisscholen overleggen of zij in de cursus 2014-2015 samen aan een milieuproject willen werken. Daarvoor zou een deel van het project: ‘Hoe oud wordt mijn vuilnisbak’ kunnen dienen. Dit project is in het Pools en Nederlands beschikbaar. Als deze afspraak er komt zou de leerkracht van de Bernadetteschool in juni eventueel meekunnen gaan naar KJ om verder te overleggen met de Poolse school. De milieu projecten die Kees  heeft voorgesteld zijn projecten waar meerdere scholen aan deelnemen en waar een locale begeleider voor is aangesteld. Deze komen daarom minder in aanmerking voor uitwerking tussen twee scholen

Voorbereiding voor het 25 jarig jubileum in 2016.
In het gesprek bij de burgemeester is geopperd dit samen te vieren met de werkgroep Hranice. Hun jubileum valt in 2015.
Voorstel: in 2015 in Leidschendam-Voorburg samen het 25 jarig jubileum vieren.
Afspraak: Johan en Mariska nemen contact op met de werkgroep Hranice voor overleg.

Mariska zal de website actualiseren met de geplande activiteiten in KJ en LV.

19 en 20 juni – internationaal muziekfestival (Johan Kunst heeft contact met de cantor van de Dorpskerk. Daar komen enkele kandidaten vandaan die aan het festival deel kunnen nemen).  De werkgroep zal dit project ondersteunen met een financiële bijdrage.

Fifth Youth Chamber Music Festival
European Meetings of Music – Konstancin 2014

I feel honoured to invite the young musicians from Leidschendam-Voorburg to participate in the Fifth International Chamber Music Festival YOUTHFESTIVAL, which will be held in Konstancin-Jeziorna, from 19^th through 23^rd June, 2014.

The organizer of the Festival is First Level Musical School in Konstancin-Jeziorna, and the Honourary Patronage of it has been undertaken by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, and also by the Mayor of the Town and Commune of Konstancin-Jeziorna.

The leitmotif of the Festival is finding joy in performing music together, exchanging experiences and the mutual permeating of cultural values within the frameworks of European integration.

The Festival, the name of which is ‛The European Meetings of Music‛, is a project in the field of music, intending to attract children and young people performing music in ensembles. It can be participated by chamber music ensembles composed of people playing any kinds of instruments. It is permitted that teachers participate in the presentations of their ensembles.

The Festival constitutes a perfect opportunity for teachers to present their methods of work, and also to implement their own projects in the field of music.

Young musicians at the age between 11 and 19 from several countries of Europe have been invited to participate in the Festival. These countries include, among others, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Germany, Latvia, Ukraine and Italy. Ensembles from Poland are also going to participate in the event. A delegation from each country may be composed, together with their teachers, no more than nine participants.              

PROGRAMME:

• The presentations of chamber music ensembles from different countries; each and every ensemble performs a programme (lasting approximately 10-12 minutes), prepared in advance and including a piece of music created by the national composer from the ensemble‛s country;

• Orchestra and choir workshops, in the course of which all the participants perfect their performance in an ensemble and have an opportunity to engage in collaborative and creative work. The Choir and the Orchestra of the Festival will be performing under the guidance of conductors and pedagogues from Poland, the Czech Republic and England.

• A meeting for teachers and instructors, which means, the exchanging of experiences within the scope of the methods of work with an orchestra and an ensemble.

• The Final Concert, in the course of which the Choir and the Orchestra of the Festival performs the programme prepared by the participants during the orchestra workshops.

PROVIDING FINANCIAL MEANS:

All the costs connected with the implementation of the programme will be covered by the organizers. The costs of accommodation and board, as well as the costs of transportation, are covered by the participants with the use of their own financial means.

In the case of the participants from Denzlingen, the costs of accommodation and board are covered by the organizers, whereas the costs of transportation are covered by the participants with the use of their own financial means.
